北海道の気候に配慮して内部に作ったとされる装飾的なアーチ。明るい窓辺で宣教師たちは読書を楽しんだのだろう������バックナンバー http://www.sumu2.com/bunka/ichiran.html旧遺愛女学校宣教師館北海道函館市Hakodate City, Hokkaido女子教育に献身した宣教師の共同生活の場白い外壁や屋根窓、八角形のせん塔が目を引く美しい洋館で、明治末期から女性宣教師たちが暮らした。右に続く平屋部分に和室がある明治期には下見板張りの洋館がたくさん建てられた函館市杉並町の旧遺愛女学校宣教師館は、北海道で女子教育を手がけたアメリカ人女性宣教師たちの住宅として、1908(明治41)年に竣工した。複数の寝室や食堂、書斎を持つ美しい白亜の洋館で宣教師たちは共同生活を営み、併設された和館には調理師などの日本人も住んだ。The Missionary House of the Iai School for Girls21A shared house for missionaries who were dedicated to the education of Japanese girlsThe Missionary House of the historical Iai School for Girls in Suginami-cho, Hakodate City was built in 1908. It provided housing for female American missionaries who came to Hokkaido to provide education for Japanese girls. The missionaries lived together in this beautiful white Western-style house contain-ing multiple bedrooms, a dining room, and a study room. The adjacent Japanese-style annex served as living quarters for cooks and other Japanese staff.
